What fight was he watching? Tyson Fury calls on BBBofC to ‘have a word’ with judge Phil Edwards

Tyson Fury has called on the British Boxing Board of Control to examine the credentials of judge Phil Edwards after the controversial draw against Deontay Wilder.

Edwards was one of three judges on the panel for the fight, which contested the WBC world heavyweight title belt, that saw the fight tied following a split decision.

Fury was knocked down twice by Wilder, but pundits and boxing experts alike believe the Brit should have be crowned the winner.

While Fury insists he has ‘no complaints’, he has called on the BBBofC to look into the matter, asking ‘I don’t know what fight he was watching’.

“I should have won the fight but I’m not going to complain, it was what it was. I’m on away soil… but what disappoints me was the British judge. I don’t know what fight he was watching… I think the British Boxing Board of Control should have a word with him,” Fury told reporters in his press conference after the fight.

“But I’m not going to complain. Many people men wouldn’t have got back up from that knockdown but I did. It is what it is.”

On the fight itself, Fury says he was relieved that both fighters finished the bout – which went the full 12 rounds – unscathed.

“I rise to the occasion,” “something deep down inside me makes me the man I am. Like I say, make no mistake I’m sitting here and I’m not happy with the draw, but, I’m a realist.

“I thought I won the fight – I think most people thought I won the fight – but I’m not going to cry over spilt milk. It’s in the past now, it’s history, but men got out the ring healthy and both go back to our families. That’s the most important thing.

“We’re both massive men. Anything can happen in there, and I’m very thankful that we both got out of there in one piece. Both got all our faculties.
