Daniel Dubois and Joe Joyce will finally go toe-to-toe in a behind closed doors heavyweight clash later in 2020 after three prior postponements.

The British pair took warm-up fights over the summer after their bout had been pushed back from both April and July, with the highly anticipated event pencilled in for October 24.

However, promoter Frank Warren in September revealed the fight was "highly unlikely" to go ahead in October after the UK Government suspended sporting test events due to a rise in coronavirus cases, meaning no fans would be present.

And though a live audience seemed paramount to the bout going ahead, Warren has now confirmed Dubois versus Joyce will be staged this year, with a date and venue yet to be confirmed.

Warren tweeted: "Delighted to confirm that terms have been agreed for Dubous vs Joyce to take place behind closed doors in 2020.

"Huge credit to both fighters and their teams for helping us get this incredible fight over the line.

"More details to follow."

Dubois also sent an abrupt message to his opponent on the announcement, tweeting: "No more waiting. This is my time and I truly believe I am going to knock Joe Joyce out in devastating style."

Joyce also took to Twitter to announce the fight, writing: "We held out for a LIVE crowd, but this Fight is happening regardless. No excuses and no backing out.

"The best Juggernaut will be entering the ring before the end of the year. I have never been more up for a Fight in my life!"

The pair both recorded stoppage victories in their tune-ups, with Dubois knocking out Ricardo Snijders in the second round, while Joyce needed three rounds to end his fight with Michael Wallisch.

But in arguably the biggest all-British heavyweight event since Anthony Joshua's bout with Dillian Whyte, the fight is finally set to go ahead.
