Bolton to ditch Anelka for hard-man Morgan

13 April 2012

Nicolas Anelka out, Sheffield United defensive hard-man Chris Morgan in. Bolton manager Gary Megson clearly believes in going from the sublime to the ridiculous.

Wanderers are keen to cash in on their £12million striker and are waiting for Chelsea to follow up their interest with a formal offer.

Regardless of that deal, Megson intends to scrap his way to Premier League survival by making Morgan his top target.

The 30-year-old was Sheffield United's captain last season and achieved notoriety for receiving a three-match ban for punching Arsenal's Robin van Persie in an off-the-ball incident.

Megson wants to toughen up Bolton's defence after shipping four goals at Liverpool and Manchester City and is also due to sign Dundee United goalkeeper Grzegorz Szamotulski.
