Blissett throws his hat into the ring

Watford legend Luther Blissett has confirmed that he will apply for the club's vacant managerial position.

Blissett, who admitted the was surprised to learn of Ray Lewington's dismissal yesterday, does not have any senior managerial experience.

However, he has been involved in coaching for the past seven years, part of which was spent at Watford, and is confident he has the ability to take the club forward.

Blissett said: "My CV will be going in there because the club are in a predicament at the moment and I see myself as someone who can do something about it. I am sure I can keep them up. I know how to win a football match from my time working with Graham Taylor."

Apart from his coaching spell at the club, the former Watford striker, who is the club's all-time leading goalscorer, has also been reserve-team manager at Vicarage Road.
