Blair adds to Sale fly-half misery

Hit hard: Blair (right) has missed the chance to cement his place

Premiership champions Sale Sharks have been dealt another major injury blow with the loss of fly-half David Blair.

Blair faces up to eight weeks on the sidelines after suffering a back injury during the 20-19 Premiership victory over Gloucester on Saturday.

He joins fellow fly-halves Charlie Hodgson and Lee Thomas in being ruled out for a lengthy period.

And Blair's absence is the last thing Sale need as they prepare to resume Heineken Cup action over the next fortnight with games against Calvisano and the Ospreys.

Sale still have an outside chance of reaching the quarter-finals, but their entire European campaign has been undermined by injury setbacks to key personnel.

Sharks rugby director Philippe Saint-Andre said: "Our run of bad luck with fly-halves continues with this latest injury.

"David waited patiently for his chance to play in the first team, and for him to be injured like this is very sad.

"Hopefully, he will make a good recovery and be back in contention before the end of the season."
