Ben Hollioake's girlfriend improving

The injured girlfriend of England cricketer Ben Hollioake, killed in a car crash in Australia last month, has been taken off the critical list but remains in a serious condition.

A spokeswoman for the Royal Perth Hospital said Janaya Scholten had shown some improvement and had been transferred from the hospital but was still in a serious condition.

"Her condition has improved slightly and she is stable but still seriously ill," the spokeswoman said.

Scholten was travelling as a passenger with Hollioake when he crashed his sports car into a brick wall in Perth in the early hours of March 23.

Hollioake, 24, died at the scene of the accident while Scholten suffered severe head and chest injuries.
