Tony Bellew defends his WBC cruiserweight title for the first time this evening.

The Liverpudlian fighter will face BJ Flores, who boasts a solid record, with the American's only defeats coming against world champions Danny Green and Beibut Shumenov.

Bellew will have the benefit of a home crowd behind him and the 'Bomber' is adamant he will come out on top after being embroiled in a war of words during the pre-fight build up.

But both men are big hitters and there will be little room for error after the first bell rings at the Echo Arena.

What they're saying

Tony Bellew: "They say it's harder to keep a title than it is to win it and this will definitely be a test," he told Sky Sports.

"He [Flores] has only lost to credible opponents and world-class guys and we will find out how good I am on Saturday night.

"All I ever do is speak my mind and tell the truth and I know that an awful lot of people don't like that."

BJ Flores: "I'm not going to get into trash-talking, there's nothing to say," he told Sky Sports.

"He [Bellew] can say whatever he wants and in the first round he'll see the difference and see what I am talking about

"I am going for a knockout. I don't plan on going the distance and I don't feel I need to go the distance."
