Bell keeps leaders on top

13 April 2012

Another superb batting display from Ian Bell has put County Championship leaders Warwickshire in command over Kent.

Bell, still being overlooked by the England selectors, claimed his fourth century in five innings by smashing 121 off 144 balls at Edgbaston. Warwickshire were due to resume today on 338 for four.

Mark Ramprakash was setting his sights on a fourth century in as many matches as Surrey went into the second day at Whitgift School only 62 runs behind with eight wickets standing after bowling out Lancashire for 210. Ramprakash was on 55 not out.

Reigning champions Sussex hold the upper hand against Middlesex at Lord's despite collapsing from 252 for two to 314 all out. In reply, Middlesex ended day two on 195 for eight, with leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed already having claimed three wickets.
