Batsman Ian Bell, who scored a century in Saturday's CB40 final, has been added to the England squad for the remaining two one-day internationals in the NatWest Series.

Bell has been called up for the last two matches of the troubled series against Pakistan after scoring 107 off 95 balls in Warwickshire's victory over Somerset at Lord's.

The 28-year-old was not involved earlier as he had just returned from a metatarsal injury but is deemed a guaranteed pick for Thursday's Ashes squad announcement.

"When I did the injury the England guys and the specialists erred on the side of safety," Bell said on Saturday.

"The surgeon suggested eight weeks off. I probably could have played after seven but was it worth risking ahead of Australia? Probably not.

"Hats off to the ECB, the physio Kirk Russell and Nick Pierce, the doctor, they got it right in terms of giving me enough time but also getting some cricket under my belt."
