Becks gives Brooklyn the boot

13 April 2012

David Beckham asked for specially strengthened boots to be made for the World Cup to protect his broken foot.

But the England captain rejected the new footwear from his suppliers adidas on the eve of the Sweden game because he believed the injury had healed properly.

Beckham admitted yesterday that he still experiences pain in the left foot, where he broke the metatarsal bone, but he will continue to use his normal boots.

He will unveil a new, all red range, pictured exclusively in Standard Sport, against West Brom on Saturday. They are embroidered with his son Brooklyn's name along with Beckham's and his No 7.
