Beckham to open London soccer school

14 April 2012

David Beckham is to open a football school in London - following in the footsteps of one of his Manchester United heroes.

The England captain and Real Madrid player, who has become the most famous name in world football after attending Bobby Charlton Soccer Schools, plans to open footballing centres in the capital and in Los Angeles, rather than go into coaching when he retires from playing.

Beckham, who today was attending his sons' christening, said: "I am not interested in being a coach but I would like to have football schools. I have always wanted to do that since I went to the Bobby Charlton school. I am going to open one in London and one in LA."

Beckham was substituted at half-time in last night's 1-0 home defeat to Sevilla but the move was not due to injury, according to coach Mariano Garcia Remon.

The Real coach was booed by fans at the Bernabeu stadium when he replaced Michael Owen with Santiago Solari after an hour's play.
