Beckham doubt for United

13 April 2012

David Beckham is battling to be fit for tomorrow's match at Fulham after suffering a slight ankle strain in England's 2-2 draw with Macedonia.

The Manchester United captain had the his ankle in an ice pack at the Carrington training ground yesterday but said he is confident of playing at Loftus Road and will have a fitness test tomorrow.

Beckham was joined on the treatment table by Ruud van Nistelrooy, who suffered more hamstring trouble in midweek which ruled him out of Holland's Euro 2004 qualifying win over Austria.

Diego Forlan, who has scored five times in his last two reserve team outings, will come into contention if van Nistelrooy does not recover, while Luke Chadwick is ready to come in for Beckham.
