Bayes blow is boost for Barrett

13 April 2012

Leyton Orient goalkeeping coach Scott Barrett is bracing himself for an extended and unexpected run in the side after first-choice Ashley Bayes was ruled out indefinitely.

The 38-year-old Barrett said: " Ashley looks like he's possibly going to have an operation on his shoulder, so I'll be pushed into action for a few more weeks.

"At the moment I'm fit enough to play and getting through the games is not a problem - but losing is!"

Barrett kept the O's in with a chance against Kidderminster before two late goals condemned Orient a 3-1 defeat, their eighth loss in 12 games and their second in succession under new manager Paul Brush.

Barrett added: "At the moment it's not really happening for us and hard work is the only thing that will turn it around."

Orient face a tough trip to Bristol City in the first round of the FA Cup this weekend, but Barrett said: "We are not going to win the FA Cup, so we have to concentrate on the bread and butter of the league.

"It will, however, gives us a chance to get our form back on track."
