Barcelona in league of their own

13 April 2012

Barcelona put their domestic problems aside as they claimed their 11th successive Champions League win to beat Inter Milan 3-0 at the Nou Camp and move three points clear at the top of Group A.

Argentine striker Javier Saviola drew first blood for the Spanish side, who are 11th in the Spanish league, with his seventh-minute effort before Dutch midfielder Phillip Cocu added a second in the 29th minute.

Cocu's compatriot Patrick Kluivert scored Barcelona's third in the 66th minute to see off the Italians, whose misery was complete when Uruguayan star Alvaro Recoba was sent off 10 minutes from time.

Barca now have two wins and a draw in the three games since new coach Radomir Antic took charge following the sacking of Louis van Gaal.

In Group B, Valencia kept themselves in contention for a quarter-final place with a 1-0 win away to Roma.

Norwegian striker John Carew netted the only goal 12 minutes from time as his side moved level with Arsenal and Ajax on five points.
