Balshaw in for Robinson

Balshaw: takes Robinson's place
14 April 2012

Leeds captain Iain Balshaw was today handed the responsibility of replacing captain Jason Robinson in the England team to face Italy at Twickenham on Saturday.

Robinson is recovering from surgery to ligaments in his right thumb, allowing Balshaw to regain the No15 shirt.

Balshaw has been blighted by injuries throughout his career and last started for England in the home defeat by Ireland a year ago. He is the only change to the team beaten in Dublin.

England: Balshaw (Leeds), Cueto (Sale), Noon (Newcastle), Barkley (Bath), Lewsey (Wasps), Hodgson (Sale), Ellis, Roundtree (both Leicester), Thompson (Northampton), Stevens, Grewcock (both Bath), Kay (Leicester), Worsley (Wasps), Corry, Moody (both Leicester). Replacements: A Titterrell (Sale), Bell, Borthwick (both Bath), Hazel (Gloucester), Dawson (Wasps), Goode, Smith (both Leicester).
