Baggies beat Blues

Birmingham manager Alex McLeish signed a new three-year deal but then saw his side overwhelmed by West Brom who came from behind to win a pulsating derby clash 3-1 at The Hawthorns.

Blues controlled the first half and deservedly led at the interval through Cameron Jerome's first goal of the campaign.

But the Baggies were transformed after the break with Peter Odemwingie, Jonas Olsson and an own goal from Scott Dann sending City to their first defeat of the campaign.

Blues were in front as Liam Ridgewell turned Sebastian Larsson's clever free-kick across goal and Jerome made no mistake from close range.

Albion made a half-time substitution with Graham Dorrans replacing Marc-Antoine Fortune, whose place in attack was taken by Odemwingie.

And after 51 minutes Dann's own goal levelled matters. Jerome Thomas held off Stephen Carr before supplying a low cross which Dann, under pressure from Odemwingie, could only deflect past Ben Foster.

Albion went ahead through Odemwingie. Lee Bowyer's miscontrol let in the Nigeria international, who calmly rounded Foster before slipping into the net.

Bowyer, after being substituted, was involved in some exchanges with Albion fans behind the dug-out and eventually moved seats.

After 69 minutes, Olsson increased Albion's lead when he was unmarked to head home an inswinging corner from Chris Brunt.

Carson then handed referee Chris Foy an object thrown from the area housing Birmingham fans behind his goal before Brunt was too high with a 25-yard effort.
