British fans can see some of the stars of last week’s World Athletics Championships closer to home when Glasgow hosts a major championship in March.

Thanks to the gold medal efforts of Josh Kerr and Katarina Johnson-Thompson, Britain equalled their best-ever performance, taking 10 medals home from the event in Budapest.

Tickets are going on sale this week for the World Indoor Championships. And fans will get to see stars of the track and field even closer, with the indoor circuit over 200m, rather than the standard 400m, offering drama and some very close races.

As well as the iconic thundering sound of athletes running on the boards around banked turns, indoor athletics also offers all of the jumping events and the shotput — as well as the unique sight of the 60m sprint.

Where will the World Indoor Athletics Championships be hosted in 2024?

The Emirates Arena in Glasgow will host the championships from March 1-3.

Day one will see the men’s 60m as well as the women’s pentathlon and both shotputs.

The men’s multi-event heptathlon will be held over Saturday and Sunday, while the event will customarily hold the 400m relays on the final evening.

All three days promise medal events and thrilling contests across 26 disciplines.

The Emirates Arena previously hosted the European Indoor Championships in 2019.
