Alexis Sanchez looked at home in the Premier League on his Arsenal debut as the Gunners saw off a spirited Palace side still reeling from the loss of manager Tony Pulis.

Arsene Wenger, though, will know there is work to be done if his side are to compete with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City for long enough to mount a genuine title challenge.

Jack Wilshere again flattered to deceive as he started the first half with god attacking endeavour and verve only to fade and make way for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after 68 minutes.

But new signing Mathieu Debuchy impressed on his first league game for the Gunners after his summer move from Newcastle with a superb work rate down the right.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace cannot seem to catch a break. After losing last season's Premier League Manager of the Year 48 hours before their season kicked off, they were then punished by a late, late winning goal from Aaron Ramsey.

Nevertheless, if they continue to play with such dogged determination, those writing them off early in the season could well be proved wrong - if chairman Steve Parish makes the right appointment.
