Arsenal set to beat Juventus to the signature of Brazilian striker Amauri

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has made a shock move for Palermo striker Amauri.

The Brazilian was expected to be sold to Juventus at the end of the season but the Gunners have reportedly stalled negotiations by making a contract offer worth £3.2million-a-year to the player's agent, Mariano Grimaldi.

Amauri would provide cover for injured Eduardo da Silva.
