Arsenal seal double deal

Arsenal today completed the signings of Spanish goalkeeper Manuel Almunia and Italian teenager Arturo Lupoli.

Almunia, who was on loan with Albacete last season, cost £500,000 from Celta Vigo.

Celta still owe Arsenal around £1million following the £3.5m sale of Brazilian full-back Silvinho three years ago and this transfer will half the debt.

Almunia, 27, has signed a three-year contract and he will provide experienced cover for German goalkeeper Jens Lehmann.

Lupoli played for the successful Parma youth team last season and has signed a two-year scholarship agreement. The 17-year-old midfielder is rated as one of the most exciting young talents in Italian football.
