Arsenal boost as Eduardo insists he could be fit for new season

13 April 2012

Arsenal striker Eduardo hopes he could be playing again as early as July after reporting excellent progress in his recovery from a broken leg.

It was feared the Croatia international could be out for more than a year after suffering a double compound fracture of the left leg in a tackle from Birmingham's Martin Taylor in February.

But the 25-year-old, who has been recovering at a clinic in Rio de Janeiro since April, is remarkably now hoping to return next season.

The Brazil-born player told Croatia's Sportske Novosti: "I am returning to Europe from Brazil at the beginning of August, perhaps even the end of July.

"Doctors tell me by then I will be fully recovered and able to play football again. I hope so too.

"I'm feeling well and my rehabilitation is going better than I would ever have hoped."
