Anton Ferdinand tells West Ham fans to start planning for European football

Anton Ferdinand believes West Ham can qualify for Europe this season now that their injury problems are behind them.

A lengthy casualty list meant that the Hammers never got into the race for Europe last term and finished in 10th.

But Ferdinand, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham, is expecting West Ham to make an impression now Craig Bellamy, Kieron Dyer and Scott Parker are back to full fitness.

The centre-half said: 'The aim is to finish higher than last season and the next step has to be Europe.

'I can understand why the fans were frustrated. They pay a lot of money and don't want to see players injured and the team not playing well. But they still kept behind the team. They know a fully-fit squad will be a very exciting prospect.'
