Anthony Joshua will make it in America if he beats Wladimir Klitschko on Saturday night, according to Oscar De La Hoya.

Joshua faces Klitschko at Wembley in what is set to be a defining night for both men, with the IBF, IBO and WBA heavyweights titles on the line.

The Watford-born fighter boasts a huge profile on these shores, having won gold at the London 2012 Olympics before going on to establish a vast fanbase throughout the UK.

But Joshua is yet to become a force on the other side of the pond, despite winning all 18 of his professional contests in emphatic fashion.

Klitschko remains one of the most recognisable names in the sport and De La Hoya is adamant America will sit up and take notice of Joshua if he beats Dr. Steelhammer convincingly.

"There's a protocol when becoming a world-class athlete. You have to beat several big-name fighters," De La Hoya insisted.

"This fight here with Klitschko is going to be a very important one - probably the most important fight of his entire career.

"If he beats Klitschko - and he has to beat him decisively and he has to be impressive and he has to go and knock him out - then he makes it here with no problem in the US."
