Andy Murray suffers a Beijing battering

13 April 2012

Andy Murray crashed out of the China Open quarter-finals in straight sets today.

The British No1, seeded second in Beijing, went down 6-3, 6-2 to Croatian Ivan Ljubicic. Murray, 23, who had been battling jetlag but had not dropped a set on the way to the last eight, was demolished in only 67 minutes.

Murray failed to muster a single break point in the whole match, losing the first set to an ace. And his spirit was broken in the second set with four successive Ljubicic aces in the sixth game.
