Andrew warns Jonny to forget about summer tour

14 April 2012

Newcastle Falcons director of rugby Rob Andrew today confirmed England's worst fears by virtually ruling Jonny Wilkinson out of the summer tour to New Zealand and Australia.

The star fly-half is still recovering from shoulder surgery and, although he is back training with his club, he is unable to resume contact training and is unlikely to make his England comeback until 13 November against Canada.

The 24-year-old had further tests yesterday in London and England coach Clive Woodward has insisted that he will only consider him for the summer tour if he is "100 per cent fit".

Andrew said: "We've told Jonny to forget about it until next season. I doubt very much he will be fit for the tour."
