All too predictable for Lewington

Ray Lewington blamed a lack of ingenuity for Watford's embarrassing defeat at Second Division Bristol City.

Lee Miller's extra-time goal proved decisive at Ashton Gate and struggling Watford's bad night was compounded by an injury to Micah Hyde.

Manager Lewington said: "While I could not fault the lads for effort, our attacks were too predictable and we didn't cause them enough problems.

"We have not much height up front at the moment and that means we have to play low balls into the box. City dealt with them well and we didn't create enough chances.

"In the first half we sat behind the ball and never looked in much trouble, but in the second half we got our game together more and started to push forward."

Substitute Hyde had only been on the field 13 minutes when he had to go off at the start of the second half. It was his first game back after a hamstring problem.
