Alan goes low to end on a high

13 April 2012

Alan Pardew believes Charlton are learning how to handle the Championship's lesser lights after their 1-0 win at Doncaster.

Andy Gray's third-minute goal was enough to secure Charlton's third League win of the season and end a run of two successive defeats.

Manager Pardew said: "It was our first meeting with a team not in the top half of the table. Our previous opponents, Preston, Wolves, Watford, Reading and Swansea, had all been going well.

"That bodes well, as we struggled against the lower sides last season. I am also very pleased for the players."

Pardew's team are up to eighth in the table and on Saturday they travel to Nottingham Forest, who have won only one of their opening six matches.

Pardew added: "If we can take our form at Doncaster to Forest, then we will make it a tough game for them."
