Sophie Ellis-Bextor aplogises for being 'cruel' to Robbie Williams in 25-year-old resurfaced clip

The singer says the incident has 'bothered' her 'for about 20 years' and she's 'not raising my kids to not be kind'

Sophie Ellis-Bextor has said sorry to Robbie Williams for "not being very kind" to him more than two decades ago.

The Murder On The Dancefloor singer, 44, took to Instagram over the weekend to reflect on her past actions after a clip of her saying some less than flattering things about Williams when she was 19 featured in his new Netflix documentary.

The clip in question sees Ellis-Bextor being quizzed by Jo Wiley about the Angels hit-maker, to which she says: "To me he hasn't got any charm about him, why people embrace him, I find it baffling and it makes me a bit sad really."

Wiley then cuttingly says: "His voice is not fantastic."

Ellis-Bextor and Williams' feud first began after she had turned down the opportunity to support him on his first solo tour, calling him "a tart" and "a prat".

Williams then replied by describing her as "having a face like a satellite dish and my nan's ankles."

Uploading a new video to the picture sharing app, Ellis-Bextor began: "I wanted to hop on here because I’ve watched the Robbie Williams documentary on Netflix and I think it’s really good, I think he comes across really well, I love how open he is, I think it really makes you understand him a bit more as a person. "I’m also aware that I feature in it. I have a cameo because there’s a clip from me when I’m 19 years old in 1998 and I am not being very kind."

She continued: "I’m getting a lot of messages from people saying, 'Wow, you are really not being very kind about Robbie.' I just want to say, I know. I know I wasn’t very kind."

Ellis-Bextor then admitted that the incident has "bothered" her "for about 20 years" and that it doesn't align with who she is now.

"I’m not raising my kids to not be kind," she insisted.

The Masked Singer star concluded: "Anyway, I just want to say, I know I was horrible, I felt terrible, I said sorry, I didn’t even mean it, and Robbie was incredibly gracious.

"We’ve made up. In fact, we’ve made some music together."

In the accompany caption, she went as far as to describe her attitude towards Williams in the past as "horrid".
