Terry Wogan has launched a tirade against everything from Posh and Becks to reality TV.

The broadcaster says reality TV is on a downward spiral which will end in hard porn, and singles out the show Hell's Kitchen for extra criticism.

He told Word magazine: "It's more vulgarity. It's encouraging the public to sneer at the poor unfortunate pseudo-celebrities. It's demeaning. It's futile. It's awful."

He also criticises politicians for being "so relentlessly obsessed with power, and themselves, that it's very hard to like them".

Actresses who have dabbled in politics, like Joan Collins and Jane Fonda, also come under attack, with the Eurovision host saying: "Why do people in the public eye have a right to sway the public view ... it's mad".

The BBC Radio 2 host slams his employer for making Saturday night programmes for people who "aren't there ... for the 'youf'..in the pub or the club", but says the "penny has finally dropped" at the Corporation.

Wogan, 65, says broadcasting is "full of charlatans and chancers and people who if they weren't doing it, would certainly be begging on the streets".

He also rounds on celebrity culture in the interview with the music and entertainment magazine, saying: "Posh and Becks is ridiculous.

"I mean he is a fair footballer but the poor girl hasn't got any talent at all.
"Their whole life is predicated on fame. Where's it all going to end? What's going to happen when nobody wants to know anymore?

"I'm very happy that I was as successful as I was in the 70s and 80s, when possibly I was the best-known person in the country apart from Prince Charles and The Queen. I'm glad it happened then as it's much tougher now."
