She is a strict vegetarian, but Ellie Goulding has a rather odd hobby — collecting stuffed animals.
The singer says she is a “walking contradiction” for keeping taxidermy creatures including deer, a crow and a rabbit in the London flat where she lives alone. The Brit Award-winning star bought her home last year and has since taken to filling it with things to remind her of where she grew up in Herefordshire.
She said: “I still live in a tiny little flat above a pub and I’ve still got my old friends. I’ve got a bit of art but I’ve got some weird stuff in my flat. I’ve got taxidermy, I’ve got animals… deer and all sorts. But weirdly, I’m a vegetarian and I don’t eat meat. I’m a walking contradiction.”
Goulding revealed that she does not consider herself a big star and will not be satisfied with her career until she takes to the stage at the O2 for her first arena headline tour in March.
She said: “It’s my first headline show but I’ve played a lot of arenas so I’m used to them. I think I’m in a good position in that I will be able to go out there not too scared.
“It will be my own show so I will have to put a lot more into it and rehearse a lot more and think of something really special.
“I think when I’m there at the O2 arena playing a sold-out show is when I will really feel like I’ve made it. It’s very difficult at the moment to sell big shows, so I feel grateful to have the same huge support I have had over the last five years.
“I’m grateful to be where I am.”
