Tonight in town treat yourself to a night of entertainment from restless New York drummer Bobby Previte - accompanied by Bjork's harpist Zeena Parkins this promises to be a top evening. Catch Blaire-baiting and Bush-bashing at the Comedy Store or meet Joanna Trollope in Kensington. Have a great one!

Pick of the Night

Bobby Previte's Constellations Ensemble
7.30pm, Purcell Room, South Bank, SE1. £12.50, £10 concs. Tube: Waterloo. Restless New York drummer Previte figures anywhere between jazz, classical, rock and electronica. His latest work, Constellations Ensemble, could be his masterpiece - a suite of 23 jazz miniatures inspired by surrealist Joan Miró. A deft eight-piece group includes multi-reedist Ned Rothenberg, Bjork's harpist Zeena Parkins and vibist John Bacon.

Film

Cold Creek Manor

Selected cinemas across London Director Mike Figgis's film about a couple opting out of the rat-race for a spooky mansion in a weird village. Sharon Stone and Dennis Quaid add psychological complexity.

The Idiots (18)
Lars Von Triers's very un-PC but amusing (and ultimately moving) film about a group of drop-outs who attempt to uncover their inner-child and liberate themselves from society by pretending to be mentally disabled.

Shows

The Goat, Or Who Is Sylvia?

MUSIC

One to look out for - the husky-voiced Australian vocalist has been compared to Joan Armatrading and Gil Scott-Heron.

Dogs Die In Hot Cars
7.30pm, 100 Club, 100 Oxford Street, W1. £7. Tube: Tottenham Court Road.
Along with Franz Ferdinand, this punchy, soulful combo are the pick of a current glut of Glaswegian bands.

Comedy and Cabaret

The Cutting Edge
8pm, The Comedy Store, 1a Oxendon Street, SW1. £12, £8 concs. Tube: Piccadilly Circus.
Critics who say satire is dead have never stumbled into The Comedy Store on a Tuesday, when the regular ensemble dissects the body politic. Expect Blair-baiting and Bush-bashing.

Performance Club
9pm, The King's Head, 2 Crouch End Hill, N8. £6, £5 concs. Rail: Crouch Hill.
Alternative cabaret night, featuring barking motormouth Yap, stand-up Sheela Salmon, Elvenbitch and Den Levett. Tony Allen hosts.
