Titanic theme tune My Heart Will Go On has cruised to the top of fans' affections after being named the top movie song of all time.

The track, sung by Celine Dion, finished ahead of Take That's Rule The World from the film Stardust.

Listeners to radio station Magic 105.4 voted for their favourites with the top 40 due to be aired in a countdown on Bank Holiday Monday, hosted by Stephen Merchant and Jimi Mistry.

My Heart Will Go On landed an Oscar for best original song and spent seven weeks at number one in the UK.

Dirty Dancing appeared three times in the list with Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes' Time of My Life the highest entry at number four. Late star Patrick Swayze's She's Like the Wind and Eric Carmen's Hungry Eyes from the film also figured in the top 40.

Aerosmith's I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing, from the soundtrack to Armageddon, came third.

Other films with multiple entries were Grease, Moulin Rouge and The Bodyguard.

The full list will air from 10am on Magic 105.4 on Monday.

The presenters plumped for Ray Parker Jr's theme to Ghostbusters as their favourite film song.

"It evokes fond memories of childhood," said Merchant.
