Susanna Reid has marked her return to Good Morning Britain by revealing a new shorter ‘do this Monday.

The presenter was welcomed back to the studio by her co-host Ed Balls, 56, following her summer break from the show and acknowledged her new look.

He said: “I love your hair.”

To which the 52-year-old responded: “Thank you very much indeed! Yes, I’ve had a few inches chopped off. I feel a little lighter.”

Then then revealed she had got caught up in the recent travel chaos, disclosing: “Not quite sure what I’m doing after being off all summer. Mildly got caught up in the air traffic control meltdown.

“Got stuck in France for an extra 24 hours. Can’t complain, to be honest.

“It’s just an extra night, an extra dinner. But I don’t know… has everybody got back yet? ‘Cause I know that some people had not been offered flights until today.”

The TV presenter, who’s fronted the ITV programme since 2014, urged GMB viewers to get in touch with them if they’re still stuck abroad due to the air traffic issues.

Reid continued: “My sympathies. As I say, we’re very, very lucky. Just got caught up for a couple of hours.”

The TV presenter’s updated look didn’t go unnoticed by viewers who commented on her shorter crop online.

One viewer penned: “Hope you enjoyed your summer holidays – looks good and suits you!”

“That’s how I want my hair to look! Going to take that image to the hairdressers and ask for a Susanna!” another commented.

Reid’s return comes as the ITV morning stalwart missed out on a nomination at this week’s National Television Awards in the daytime category.

Instead The Chase, This Morning, Loose Women and The Repair Shop were recognised in the category.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV
