Ministry of Sound Digital DAB Tuner Price: £149.99

When she was good, she was very, very good; but when she was bad, she was awful.

The words of this nursery rhyme sprang to mind after grappling with the MoS radio for a few days.

At home, it tuned in brilliantly and sound quality was excellent, delivering everything claimed for digital radio, ie near-CD quality, with lots of clever extra info on the display about the song you're hearing etc.

But, once out the door, reception fell away dramatically, with a move of even a few inches causing dozens of stations to drop off. The headphones aren't great and comfort and reception improved with a different pair.

Still, a very smart-looking bit of kit - if a bit plastic - for whenever digital broadcasting finally catches up with its hype.
