Sir Alan Sugar: You're hired

Reality show The Apprentice reaches its finale tonight with two candidates fighting it out for a £100,000 job with Amstrad tycoon Sir Alan Sugar.

Saira Khan and Tim Campbell have beaten 12 other determined contenders to make it through to the 12th and last show in the BBC2 series.

While one will be dismissed with Sir Alan's now famous words: "You're fired", the other will reach the end of what has to be one of the most gruelling interview processes, to hear the words: "You're hired."

Their final task, on what is dubbed as the ultimate boardroom drama, is to organise a boat party on the River Thames.

They are allowed to invite former candidates back to help them out and have two days to devise their winning plan.

The winner, as throughout the series, will be the candidate who makes the most money.

Saira, 34, from Nottingham, has already become the star of the series.

She has hogged the limelight each week thanks to her pushy personality.

Softly spoken Tim, the 27-year-old transport manager from east London, could not be more different.

Sir Alan has explained why he chose them as his final two.

"Saira's not an easy character but she's a decent girl - there's something very powerful about her. She's a tremendous salesperson but she's got to learn to be more of a diplomat," he said.

"Tim is like a Ferrari without petrol. He's young, he listens and he can be tough and determined. He is an empty template and I can mould him."

The last episode is broadcast tonight at 9pm on BBC2.
