Simon Fuller receives a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Simon Fuller received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The 51-year-old creator of hit TV show American Idol enjoyed his moment surrounded by some of the celebrities he has helped to create.

"Whenever I see that star, I won't see my name, I'll see all names of the people I've worked with and all those amazing artists and people that have helped me achieve this stuff," said Fuller as his star was revealed.

Fuller has enjoyed a successful career that's spanned 25 years and has managed some of the music industry's biggest names including Annie Lennox, Amy Winehouse and everyone's favourite girl band, The Spice Girls.

Former Spice Girl, Victoria Beckham, was present at yesterday's ceremony, along with the American Idol Judges, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson and also the current show's finalists.

Fuller received his star on the eve of the two-part finale of this year's American Idol.

The reality show has been the most-watched programme on US television for seven consecutive years, but Fuller revealed that it wasn't always so popular.

He revealed that when he and fellow music entrepenuer, Simon Cowell first attempted to sell American Idol in the states, "We had that show turned down by every single network."

However, since then the format has been sold to more than 120 other countries and has created a multi-billion-dollar global recording, TV and merchandising franchise.
