X Factor hopeful Paije Richardson is expected to perform on the show this weekend despite the death of his grandmother yesterday.

The 19-year-old from Reading pulled out of rehearsals last night, but show insiders said they were confident he would be on stage on Saturday.

The teenager was one of four wildcards given a second chance on the hit ITV1 reality show after being rejected by Dannii Minogue at the judges' houses stage.

He is an outsider to win the show with bookmakers offering 84-1 on him triumphing over more established favourites like Matt Cardle and Mary Byrne.

Also due to appear on stage this weekend is judge Cheryl Cole who will perform her new single Promise This on Sunday's results show.

There are 12 competitors left in the show.
