Ruth Langsford returned to host This Morning alongside pal Rylan Clark on Monday, almost a year since she last fronted the mid-morning show.

Langsford used to co-host the ITV staple with husband Eamonn Holmes, 62, on Fridays and often stood in for regular presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on school holidays and summer breaks.

And on Monday, the Loose Women star hosted This Morning alongside former X-Factor contestant Rylan, 33, for the first time since October 2021.

The 62-year-old intially confirmed the news on Instagram on Sunday (August 21), with a compilation of her highlights on the show with Rylan.

Langsford’s return was praised on social media, with one viewer commenting: “Yey Ruth’s back, love that woman #thismorning.”

“#Thismorning thank God we’ve Rylan & Ruth as presenters,” another penned.

A third fan wrote: “Ruth and Rylan are presenting #thismorning, all is right with the world.”

“I love Ruth and Rylan presenting #ThisMorning,” another viewer remarked.

It marks the first time Langsford has fronted This Morning since her other half was apparently booted from ITV. He then went on to host GB News’s breakfast show with Isabel Webster last November.

While Holmes moved to a new broadcaster, she has stayed at ITV as a regular presenter on Loose Women and also hosts on QVC.

In January 2021, Alison Hammond, 47, and Dermot O’Leary, 49, took over the couple’s usual Friday slot.

Previously, Holmes claimed former colleague Phillip Schofield “has a habit of snubbing people” and accused ITV bosses of making it look as if he had walked away from the long-running magazine show.

Speaking to the Daily Mail’s Weekend magazine, the Belfast native said: “No one explained anything to me.

“I’m all for TV companies being able to choose who works for them, but it would be nice if you were told why you were going.

“They’re sly. They didn’t want to announce that I’d been dropped because it would adversely affect audience figures, so they made it look as if I’d walked away from them rather than the other way round.”
