Russell Crowe stormed out of an interview with the BBC after he was accused of giving Robin Hood an Irish accent in his new movie.

Unimpressed: Russell crowe defended his Robin Hood accent

The 46-year-old Australian was talking to Radio 4's Mark Lawson when he lost his temper with the interviewer and exclaimed: "F**k me!" He had received coaching to perfect a Nottingham twang for the Ridley Scott movie, but has faced criticism over his accent.

Lawson said: "The accent you've given him — there are hints to me of Irish, but what have you . . . what were you thinking of in those terms?"

Crowe snapped back: "You've got dead ears mate, you've seriously got dead ears, if you think that's an Irish accent. Bollocks!"

After answering more questions about the film, Crowe then returned to the subject of his accent, suggesting it was "ridiculous" to say it was Irish.

Dumbfounded: Russell got angry with radio presenter Mark Lawson

Lawson replied: "So you're, well I'm just asking, so you're going for northern English?" Crowe said: "No, I was going for Italian. Missed it? F**k me!"

He then abandoned the interview, which was recorded at the Dorchester Hotel in Park Lane.

His voice coach Sara Poyzer, 39, insisted she taught him the Nottinghamshire accent, adding: "I thought he did a pretty good job."
