The late actor Robin Williams’ children have shared touching tributes to their “wonderful” father on the eighth anniversary of his death.

The Mrs Doubtfire actor died by suicide on August 11, 2014, aged 63. Williams was also misdiagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.

An autopsy later revealed the star, unbeknownst to him, had been living with Lewy body dementia, a rare form of progressive dementia which affects thinking, reasoning and autonomous function.

Hi son Zak Williams, the CEO of mental health company Prepare Your Mind, wrote on Twitter in tribute to his father.

“Dad, on the eighth anniversary of your passing, I’m remembering how incredibly kind and joyful you were.

“I deeply miss you you wonderful, hairy man and will be celebrating your life today. Love you so so much!”

The actor’s daughter, Zelda, who is due a directorial debut, also posted a tribute by using a poignant quote before linking a thread of suicide prevention resources.

She wrote: “And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in.” - Haruki Murakami.

“I don’t ask for much, but if I may, be gentle to your hearts today. I know I’m trying.”
