Police investigating the alleged racism in the Celebrity Big Brother house have made contact with Jade Goody - and her mother Jackiey.

The pair, whose comments on this year's series caused uproar, have not yet been interviewed by officers looking into the race row.

But Hertfordshire police have approached the 25-year-old former reality TV star and her 48-year-old mother with a view to making a future date to speak to them.

Police would not name the former dental nurse or her mother, but a spokeswoman said: "An investigation into allegations of racist behaviour inside the Celebrity Big Brother house is continuing.

"Hertfordshire Constabulary can confirm police will be making approaches to speak to housemates if and when appropriate once they have left the house.

"We are also making contact with two of the housemates who have already been evicted but at this stage no interviews have taken place."

Officers may also approach tonight's evictees if they are relevant to the investigation.

Jo O'Meara, who was involved in the row, is favourite to get the boot tonight. Shilpa Shetty, Dirk Benedict, Cleo Rocos, and Ian Watkins - 'H' from Steps - are also up for eviction.

Yesterday, Big Brother bosses were forced to apologise after a blunder meant they had to scrap eviction votes.

Fans were offered refunds after the fiasco, which could have led to Shilpa being evicted by mistake.

Words alongside her number wrongly stated viewers should ring it to save her, instead of boot her out.

The blunder came on the same day as Channel 4 bosses said the race row saved the show from being "the most boring in years".

Jade sparked allegations of racism by calling her housemate Shilpa "Poppadom" during the bullying that took place in the house, while her mother called Shilpa "the Indian".

The row sparked a record number of complaints - more than 40,000 - to media watchdog Ofcom.
