Penelope Cruz has married partner Javier Bardem in a secret ceremony.

The Nine star and her Oscar-winning actor boyfriend – who have been dating for nearly four years – tied the knot in front of a handful of friends and family in the Bahamas at the start of July.

The Spanish beauty – whose representative Amanda Silverman has confirmed the union – wore a John Galliano gown for the intimate nuptials.

After first meeting while shooting Jamon, jamon in 1992, the couple started dating in 2007 before starring alongside each other again in Woody Allen's Vicky Cristina Barcelona' in 2008.

Penelope, 36, has previously spoken of her desire to have children with the 41-year-old Spanish hunk.

She said: "I'd love to have kids. Maybe I'll adopt about 20 children - that's been my dream since I was a little girl. I want to have my own kids, but also adopt. For a while I've had the feeling that my life won't be complete if I don't adopt.

"I think I would be a perfect mother. I love babies."
