Poor Peaches Geldof's fledgling magazine career has got off to a devastatingly bad start.

The 19-year-old has suffered an unprecedented wave of hate from thousands of readers who panned her first ever column for a New York magazine.

The website of fashion mag Nylon was besieged by a barrage of hateful comments from readers this week, who were appalled at what they claimed was her "arrogance" and "pointlessness".

Peaches Geldof: Hopefully fairs better at university than in journalism

Peaches has begun writing a column about her life in New York since moving to the city to live with her new hubby Max Drummey.

But her debut thinkpiece left a sour taste in the mouth of Nylon readers.

The magazine was forced to delete hundreds of the hurtful comments from its website, only to find hundreds more left in their place by incensed punters.

More than 1,000 had been left within the first three days.

Her column, which at the very least is easy to read, includes gems such as: "My best friend here is a boy named Bunny.

"We spend our days traipsing around Manhattan — him in skin-tight plaid trousers, huge geek glasses, and a mass of red hair sticking out haphazardly from beneath an Amish-style hat."

Well, it beats working, we suppose. She is also in New York to study at university – so we hope she fairs a little better in academia.
