TV host Paul O'Grady is to become a grandfather, he has revealed.

The 51-year-old star shared the happy news with viewers on his Channel 4 chat show.

"I'm going to be a glamorous granddad," he said. "I was a bit scared about the whole idea because I thought it would make me feel a bit old but I'm over the moon."

O'Grady's daughter, Sharyn, was born when he was 17.

The baby is due on Christmas Day.

"It's been murder, because you know what I'm like keeping secrets. I'm superstitious and I thought if I said anything it could go wrong," he said.
