National Television Awards: Stars dazzle on the red carpet

Stars arrived on the red carpet ahead of the National Television Awards on Thursday evening at Wembley Arena in London.

This Morning host Holly Willoughby and Rochelle Humes were among TV celebrities dazzling in black dresses ahead of the spectacle being broadcast live on ITV.

The event was rescheduled from September 15 as a mark of respect following the death of the Queen.

Masked Singer presenter Joel Dommett has returned to host this year’s awards, and Robbie Williams opened with a medley of his biggest hits.

The ceremony celebrates the stars and best-loved shows of the year, with awards for everything from best new drama to best TV presenter.

Peaky Blinders won best returning drama and Trigger Point took out the prize for best new drama.

Ant and Dec won best TV presenters but the pair were forced to pull out of attending after testing positive for Covid.

Gogglebox was the favourite for factual entertainment.

Sir Lenny Henry is to be presented with the NTAs’ coveted gold Special Recognition Award, honouring his career in UK television.

Among those congratulating Sir Lenny for his achievements as a writer, campaigner, comedian and presenter will be Hollywood superstar Whoopi Goldberg.

The NTAs are unique in that they’re the only UK TV awards ceremony where all the winners are chosen exclusively by the public via a nationwide poll.
