ITV has been let off by the media watchdog over John Lydon's four-letter outburst on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

The former Sex Pistols star provoked 88 complaints from viewers after shouting "oh f***ing c***s" during a live broadcast upon learning he had not been evicted from the show.

ITV immediately apologised and the regulator Ofcom has concluded no further action is necessary.

"While this is an entertainment programme, viewers were aware that this was a live programme, featuring John Lydon in the Australian bush," Ofcom said in its programme complaints bulletin.

"The broadcaster acknowledged that it was highly regrettable and took immediate steps to apologise ... Under such circumstances we believed that no further action was necessary."

ITV introduced a time delay on subsequent episodes of the reality show in response to Lydon's outburst.
