Live Cargo
A mammoth two-day affair following on from last year's festival of European music at the ICA.
This time around we head off to Cargo - one of the capital's best live venues. Friday night's line-up consists of Xploding Plastix, S.U.M.O, Nick Luscombe, Box Saga, G-HA, Olanskii and Zak Frost .
Xploding Plastix hail from Oslo and their 1999 six-track demo found its way into the record boxes of such luminaries as Coldcut and Mr Scruff. S.U.M.O. come from Stockholm and have new releases out on Sfere, Seasons and Bubble Soul.
Nick Luscombe needs no introduction - his Flo-Motion radio showhas been broadcast on Xfm since 2000, with his eclectic mix of broken beat, techno, jazz and dub.
Also on the decks will be producer Box Saga, alternative house DJ G-HA, Olanskii (who has come a long way since Mass and Heaven), plus Zak Frost, who, as well as being one half of Frogsnatcher (producing Jamaican-styled house), has been all around the globe with his DJing.
Saturday sees DJ Circus Love (responsible for 333's infamous Perverted Science night) with his selection of electro, dub, house, hip-hop and techno, playing alongside Guglielmo Mascio, who is the lead member of Rome's Nu Funk Klan DJ collective, and TLR - one of the movers on the Italian disco scene.
Onstage we have Bangkok Impact - the incredible Sami Liuski from Finland - and UK electro stalwarts Transparent Sound and Church Of Carbon. Think Chicks On Speed and Peaches and you get my drift. We like.
