Lily Allen's love of cricket could land her with her own TV sports show.

Cricket maiden: Lily Allen

Keen to get the plan off the ground, 24-year-old Lil has gone into bat with cricket commentor David "Bumble" Lloyd.

We can reveal that, in a Twitter conversation with Lloyd, she said: "Hi Bumble, I have an idea for a TV programme and would love to send it to you and know your thoughts. It's a cricket programme obv. What's your email? Direct message me back. Lily."

Just in case you're thinking that she's jumping on the Ashes victory bandwagon, we'll have you know that she's been a fan from childhood.

She said: "I got into cricket as my dad played for a pub team and every weekend the boys would play cricket and the girls would watch."

But, in an interview with cricketer-turned-broadcaster Jonathan "Aggers" Agnew, she admitted that her modern infatuation started when then prime minister Tony Blair invited the English team over to his gaff after they won the Ashes in 2005.

She said: "I followed the 2005 Ashes and got into it when Freddie' Flintoff had a wee at Downing Street."

Whatever the reason for her interest, she's certainly throwing herself behind the sport 100%.

And we'd love to see her giving her unique opinions on the state of the game.
