Lily Allen heals rift with sister by opening Covent Garden shop

They grew up as feuding siblings who barely spoke, but now Lily Allen and sister Sarah have revealed they put aside their differences to open a Covent Garden shop together.

The venture is the idea of the 25-year-old singer and her older half-sister who, up until two years ago, had not seen eye to eye.

Allen offered an olive branch in her song Back To The Start, in which she apologised to 30-year-old Sarah and sang: "This is not just a song, I intend to put these words into action."

Sarah told the Standard that their new joint business venture, vintage clothes shop Lucy In Disguise, "is the action".

She added: "Our relationship is completely different now. Now it's more of a sibling relationship — we bicker and disagree but make up again. Growing up, we were very different people. In the past there were lots of problems for us as sisters.

"We didn't really understand each other. She offered an olive branch in her song Back To The Start — that meant so much to me."

Allen has the same mother as Sarah, film producer Alison Owen. The singer said: "I trust her implicitly, which is crucial when choosing a business partner."

The shop has 1,200 items in stock, ranging from £35 to £2,000, having been sourced from as far as Los Angeles and Paris. Customers can hire an item for 20 per cent of its price.

In the basement of the shop is a members' area with Grey Goose vodka bar and a boyfriend zone featuring PlayStation Move, the new motion-sensing game from Sony.
