Keira Knightley has revealed how she celebrates the end of a film shoot — by painting her nails in “absurd colours”.

The 29-year-old actress said: “During filming I am carefully made up for weeks, so at the end of every film I love to go out and buy nail polish in the most absurd colours and paint my nails with them. Last time I chose yellow — which I don’t recommend. I looked like a had nicotine-stained fingers.”

Knightley, who is married to Klaxons star James Righton, says she still gets butterflies when she arrives on set, even though she started acting as a child. She also said she had struggled to make peace with her profession. She told Hello! magazine: “For a long time, I had trouble saying that I was an actress, but today I can. I’m still just as stressed when I start a film shoot and I’m not happy with everything that I do — far from it.

“But with time and each new film I continue to learn, unlearn and learn again. And therefore to build who I am.”
